Are we at the end of disimpaction?

My one year old is going through disimpaction. We are having watery stools with bits of solid food from whatever her last meal was in evenings and early morning. However in the middle of the day it's a more porridgey consistency.....is this because we give her oatibix for breakfast and it's just coming out as it went in? I don't want to keep her on it longer than we need to! It's been like this for 2 days

No keep going it needs to be watery stools with no lumps consistently for days before you start reducing the doses down extremely slowly ie one sachet every few days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on.

Dear MamaBird23 , have you listened to our Podcasts on disimpaction? eric.org.uk/podcast/episode... In this podcast, our Nurse, Brenda, explains what to expect and how to know when you're 'there' .

How watery does her poo get? You need to see rusty water with bits in on 2 occasions to know that the poo traffic jam is cleared. Since your daughter is still eating, it would be very difficult to continually see the rusty water.

Once you've got the impaction cleared, do keep her on a maintenance dose. If she has been on the highest dose for disimpaction, she will need to stay on the highest maintenance dose for at least a week, preferably 2, then you can tweak the dose until you get a soft sausage like poo every day or every other day. The bowel can take a little while to settle down after disimpaction. eric.org.uk/childrens-bowel...

best wishes
