My 3 nearly 4 year old son is afraid of doing his poos on the toilet and does them in his pants. Sometimes he holds it in which causes it to be runny and very messy. I mainly feel bad for when it happens at nursery and they have to clean him up.
Any advice welcome for getting my son to use the toilet.

Hi, my son just turned 4 and he is still not toilet trained. Wears nappy all the time. Nursery changes him when he cant hold anything inside otherwise he has learnt to hold wees and poos which came to the point that he started to wet his nappy only once a day. I called ERIC and whatever they advised me about my son is atleast getting him out of his habit of holding it too long. He also doesn’t like to sit on the toilet so I took out potty again and he sits on it happily in our lounge. I’m just trying to make a habit of sitting on the potty but I only encourage him when he’s happy. With the poos, I have started to throw the poo from nappy into the toilet and letting my son flushes, then we say poo has gone home, bye bye poo! So far we are just trying to get his frustration out and making him comfortable on it which is working to some extent. Sometimes he chooses a story to read with me while he’s sitting on the potty, or takes his speak and spell tablet to play with. Just go with the flow. Call ERIC they are surely helpful. I hope my long essay helps lol 😂
