My almost 4 year old, has been signed off from the GP, as we seemed to have cracked the case of ongoing chronic constipation...
She had movicol for a year, now on a v low maintenance amount & use senna a few times a week at a small dosage when needed.
Some weeks - even months she’s so regular, goes 5 times a week. Then, it changes and we have a week of constipation where she doesn’t go for days and days. I can often link this “bad” week to something - ie, holiday, so usual meals and drinks change, or a change in circumstances, ie started pre school.
GP is very good, she was happy that we manage this ourselves, and says that some people are more prone to it & is happy my child isn’t soiling, distressed etc.
Just want to hear from other parents - did anyone have a long journey like this? With some good months and some tougher weeks, but then come out the other end? Fully cured?!? Do I always have to keep a poo diary? Will I always be reminding her to sit and try for a poo?
It’s tiring. Whilst I’m grateful that she isn’t struggle most of the time, it’s still one of my worries & a source of anxiety.
