We are so lost now. Our 3.5 year old has been on Laxido for 16 weeks and we seem to get nowhere. We were on 2 sachets then 4 and we had progress . One poo a day. Then we started cutting down and now it seems like we can’t go back. He is on 6 sachets and still can hold poo. We potty trained him but with exception that he asks for a nappy when he wants to poo. When we put a nappy on in seconds he makes poo ( or rather a brown watery poo like). How is it he can still hold it ? Does it ever get better? We even let him poo himself thinking he needs a bit of a shock and nothing. Help. What is the next step? Shall we see a psychologist ?

Stool withholding
Add a stimulant.
Hi, have you looked into magnesium, it's something I'm looking into, many say that it can help, even in a bath (magnesium flakes or Epsom salt), best wishes 🦋
My son is same age and has been on movicol for over two years. He will only poo in a nappy but we have managed to regulate his bowels so he at least goes once per day. We put flaxseed on his cereal, lots of water, probiotic choc balls. We also do regular ‘toilet time’, which is basically me taking him to bathroom 20mins after his tea to put a nappy on and do a poo. This has definitely helped - if it wasn’t part of his daily routine, he just wouldn’t go. We haven’t had to use stimulant but lots of people have success with these so worth a go! Good luck.
I spoke to 3 GPs and the third one finally referred my daughter to a gastroenterologist who added a stimulant to her meds to make her go everyday. I give it to her at a certain time so I know when toilet time needs to be. I then called the ERIC helpline and she really took the time to explain it all to me. We haven’t got it right yet either but we’ll get there.
