I have a 4yo boy starts school Sept. Potty trained around 2.5yo. Started off really well but went downhill a couple of months after with frequent poo and wee accidents. We're now on top of poo accidents but not wee. He has around 3 accidents a day unless you constantly remind him to go to the loo. Preschool say he's always too busy. This is true for at home too except if he has no pants on! Then he doesn't have accidents. Not even a dribble! Has anyone else had experience of this? I want to know if we need to explore incontinence or if it's entirely psychological ie if he has something on he'll just wet that.
Other background info - he still insists on pooing in his nappy every morning although has no problems using a toilet to do if prompted. We've not removed night time nappies as he's soaking wet every morning and figured the hormone might not have kicked in.
Any experience/thoughts/help hugely appreciated!

I’m just offering solidarity I’m afraid. New here and in exactly the same boat with my 4 yo who has started school. Very busy / maybe a bit lazy on bothering to go to the toilet?! But is still soiling too.. has just been put on a toileting plan in school so they ask him to go frequently. It’s helped but now he just does it more at home!
Before he restarted school last week I took a urine sample to the drs to check he didn’t have a water infection that was causing it. He didn’t. The school have said they’re referring me to the school nurse and she’s be in touch but yet to here yet. I keep trying to tell myself, he is still very young I gets tired, then the accidents are more frequent.
Thankyou for replying. It's reassuring just to know there's many of us grabbling with this. As it stands, and I dare to say it, our 4yo has been better this week. But I cannot honestly say that anything is different or has changed!! We have since introduced boxer shorts - part of us wondered if his underwear didn't feel so secure like a nappy, he might not like the feel of the wet so much?
Just for background, we have tried many plans through nursery (alarms, stickers...) and nothing had really stuck. I've had great support from a health visitor who has given us lots of ideas but admitted she was out of them if things don't start to improve alone. In my head I review it 6 weekly with nursery and see how we go. We've ruled out incontinence as if he has no pants or trousers on he doesn't even slightly have an accident. So I'm almost certain it's all in his head....
Hi, I thought I'd just update with a conversation I had with an ERIC volunteer the other day. It was helpful, but also disappointing in a way as there was nothing really new for us to try?! She suggested the things you're probably all familiar with - timers, making it fun, keeping a schedule. I get the timer thing but we're also wondering how this helps him tune into his body when something is always prompting him to go?
I've since googled overactive bladder - is this something any of you guys have looked into?
