Disimpactation 3.5yr old

Hi there

I wondered if anyone had any thoughts or advice. My daughter 3.5 is going through disimpactation (8 sachets laxido) and has been withholding for 1.5 years. I thought it was just constipation at first. We’re at day 9 and I thought it had worked but from reading this forum I can see we need to get to rusty water and we’re not there yet so we’re carrying on with 8.

The thing is, she’s still able to hold it in for quite a long time and even holds her wind in which is making her very bloated and uncomfortable. She’s having regular potty time after each meal but I can see her holding it in. And when I notice she’s holding it in at other times of the day and ask her if she needs to go, she lies and is adamant she doesn’t. Then I’ll either force her to go which leads to a tantrum or she has an accident. She was potty trained fine and this started afterwards. I’ve asked if she’d like to wear pull ups to help with the accidents but she got quite upset at this idea.

We’re trying to be positive and calm with her, not making a fuss about accidents but I hate to admit I do sometimes lose my patience especially when she has an accident after telling fibs about not holding it in.

Has anyone else experienced this or got any words of wisdom?

Thank you :)

No words of wisdom yet Lisa but just wanted to reassure that you're not alone! I could have written this about my 3.5 daughter EXACTLY the same!! We are also disimpacting, think we got there we had to use nappies throughout and now we're back to 3 sachets a day and using pullups mainly. Trying to get a regular achievable consistency before rocking the boat. Hang in there I've been there aswell, frustrated screamed shouted cried, the lot. It's so draining. Xxx

Thanks Gwigs34 that’s helpful. Best of luck with your daughter. Let’s keep doing what we’re doing. Any progress is good progress I guess! x
