Feel like we going round in circles...with holding...leaking..impaction...

I'm new to the sight but definitely not new to faecal impaction..been going around in circles for such a long time..my poor boy had always been dry and using the toilet since he was almost 3..hes now 6 and still wont tell me when he needs to do a number 2. We are in a continuous cycle of infrequent bowel movements...soiling anything up to 6 times a day and I up his movicol when am lucky enough to get him to drink it and then we back to square one again. I've tried absolutely everything and praise just is not working . Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would go back to your doctor, it sounds like he might be impacted and perhaps has lost the feeling that he needs to do a poo (this happened to my son)

Sounds like my boy and I agree with the other comment. I sounds like he's impacted and needs disimpaction. Then keep the poo soft for several months afterwards as if his bowel has become floppy, it will block up again easily. I think you should take him back to the doctor then spend some time reading all the disimpaction stuff on the eric website before you launch in. Good luck xx

I agree with other 2 replies re possible need for disimpaction . Things that have helped us: regular support from GP, referral to hospital and then support from inconvenience nurse (only saw her once as things have now improved so much); a squatty Potty (google). I have also found the ERIC helpline very informative and supportive. Things are so much better for us know - it took a while but we got there. He still takes medicine but has the feeling back that he needs to go which is fab! Good luck - it is a bumpy journey but things will get better 😍. Ps we mix Laxido with with a small amount of weak hot chocolate AFTER it has been mixed with the water - he drinks no prob. Good luck xx
