I’m just wondering if there is any advice on what to should expect starting school? My daughter starts in August and I’d hope to drop the mid day dose but it seems that won’t be happening anytime soon. I go On Monday to talk with the teacher. I don’t want my child to miss out on lessons or play time... but she’s going to have to stick to a supervised toilet routine. Anyone had good support from school for keeping toilet routine? They have been great so far at nursery but I know it’s different at school.

Hi, hope your meeting goes well. It will depend on the school and the staff how much they support a routine. Just make sure they understand the problem, that there is no quick fix and it is not just poor training. Hopefully they can give her help with the routine and maybe a school reward chart. My son had lots of accidents and needed help cleaning up but didn't really get what he needed as I don't think the staff understood/had the resource, and thought the best thing was to encourage his independence with cleaning up, which I don't think helped as he needed support. But we got through it, and now yr2 has been best year yet. If possible get dr/nurse notes or use the advice on the Eric website to explain to the school what the problem is. Good luck x
Thanks for your reply! I spoke with the nursery today and they are going to arrange a meeting with the p1 teacher. That must have been so frustrating for you. Especially when people think it’s lack of training when let’s be honest anyone that has a child with this problem spends years doing absolutely everything they can to help, days upon days I have spent in my bathroom 🤦🏼♀️ , it takes over your life. Xx
That’s so good thinks are getting better for you.. it’s a long road isn’t it. That’s a good idea to print of some advise from the Eric website, I definitely do that xx
