Hi....new here, my 5year old has been having many problems with UTI’s and day/night wetting.
And it all came to a head last week when she didn’t pass poo for 9 days!
So we went to the GP’s and was started on movical 4,6,8,10 then up to 12 sachets plus 10ml lactulose and 10ml senna.
We were also sent to children’s assessment unit at the hospital by the GP on day 5 as nothing but overflow was happening.
So hospital consultant preformed an enema....that didn’t work!
We’ve had a couple of yellow spoldges and a couple of days of accidents am then just watery passings pm, no day has just been purely watery poos all day or for more the 24hrs!
So my question is has disimpaction worked?.....I’m so confused what to do! I don’t want to giver her to much, however I don’t feel she has passed alot of poo, considering this could have potentially been going on for 6 months.
Thanks for reading and any advice will be great fully received.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. It does seem like a reasonable amount should have come out...when we’ve done a disimpaction on my 4-year old before, I’ve always been surprised! Could you take her back to the GP and ask them to have a good feel of her tummy? We saw our consultant again yesterday and he was quite confident in saying my daughter didn’t have a build up after having a good feel. Also maybe try the sweetcorn test? I think there’s a post on the ErIc website about it. You basically cut out sweetcorn for a few days, give her some and then watch to see how long it takes to appear in the toilet. I think it should be 24-36 hours for children. If it appears in that amount of time, it would suggest that everything is moving along as it should and there are no major blocks. Good luck - I hope you get it sorted.
Hello, my four year old has had constipation since birth, things got real bad when she got sepsis and fecal impactation. It took a whole year to clear the old poo out, it was so smelly like rot. I would say to get her to see specialist as I know another child who had the same as my child, and he was on lots of Movicol and it took a year for his bowels to empty too. An MRI scan showed us all what was going on. It will take a while for the poo to soften and eventually come out. All the very best.xx
