Infrequent passage of soft poo

For a long time my child was on movicol. At first I think it helped but after toilet training it eventually worsened the problem to the extent that after weeks of multiple soiling each day we stopped the movicol and poo-ing without soiling dramatically improved. This improvement lasted a while but every now and again, often after a change (eg change in routine or sickness) my child goes back to infrequent pooing. It’s been a week since the last poo. It’s not uncommon for them to only poo every other day or every third day and when they do, it’s usually a type 4 soft poo but very large. Currently - No soiling. No obvious pain or dis tension and no obvious attempts to withhold - I’d usually see them sitting on their heel to hold it in. I’m reluctant to give movicol after the worsening of soiling before. Could it be a motility problem? Or anxiety? Diet is great, water intake good, activity levels and all the usual recommendations we do follow. Advice?!

Hi we stopped my little girl last year from medicine it was the worst thing we done she didn't go for a mth. Apparently it's the brain and can take up to 6 years for them to go normal. So back on movelcoil which is 7 also on senna and has help with the pain and discomfort. We have nurses daily and peadrictians. I felt very guilty as I stop her meds. Don't stress about it they will go eventually.

Just takes a long journey.
