Have you tried blowing bubbles with him or a piece of tissue for him to blow off his face and see if he can get it higher each time. This might work for one time only but bubbles worked for us for a while.

I read one post about a mum who bought a small lap table to go over the toilet for their child to do colouring. Sounded a great idea...

We are in a very similar boat. I have only recently been able to get my son to sit on the toilet for a significant amount of time. His problem is that he'll only relax his bowels at night and delivers me a rock hard present in his nappy while he sleeps! But he has been getting better and tonight actually pooed on the toilet for the first time in months! I have some suggestions. First, give him all the tablets and books he may want, and set a timer for at first what he can do (2 or 3 minutes) and then slowly increase the time every couple of days. Also, comfort may be a thing. My downstairs toilet is one of those seat-in-a-seat deals, so whenever i want him to sit to try to do a poo, he sits on the smaller seat, which doesn't really work if he wants to see because his willy goes over the smaller seat (a problem I never considered with my daughter!). I also put a stool under his feet, so his feet aren't just dangling there. For our upstairs bathrooms, I drag a stool to the toilet so that he can prop up a book, since it's hard to balance himself over a larger toilet seat and hold a book. He also has a footstool there. These have made sitting on the toilet a bit more comfortable to eek out a few more minutes. I still don't understand how my son can sit there for 10 minutes and have nothing happen, but I guess it just is a matter of him finally getting comfortable and relaxed enough for the muscles to relax. It finally worked today, and he was so proud of himself, I hope it continues! I hope it works for you, too!

My son is completely refusing to sit on potty or toilet. I feel like its taken over our lives , I was in floods of tears yesterday talking to my partner about my day of constant changes and talking about sitting on the toilet. Ive tried everything that's been suggested and no joy , its just "NO" all the time.

Good luck and if you do find an answer please share!!!!!!!!
