I asked my GP to stop treatment with carbamazepine due to increasing side-effects having taken it for over 25 years. I asked to be switched on to a more modern equivalent of carbamazepine. They put me on Levitiracetam, then Brivaracetam which caused me problems. After viewing this video I quickly realised that the drugs they'd switched me onto were not sodium channel blocker meds which carbamazepine is.

I asked my consultant to view this video and to put me onto a modern sodium channel blocker which he agreed to do.

I am now on lacosamide, and within weeks of starting it am already feeling like my true self again, like I was when on carbamazepine, and not having the side-effects which carbamazepine had started causing.

This is definitely a MUST SEE video for anyone who is receiving medical treatment for epilepsy!!

Out of interest, what negative side effects did you experience, from Brivaracetam ? Am on it as a secondary medication

Have been trying to return to Lacosamide, which had tried '21 - '23. Difficulty has been ensuring an appointment with one of those dr/consultant thing's, gp's "we don't deal with specialist stuff", noticed April 2024's appointment, may now happen July 2024.

On both Levitiracetam and Brivaracetam I was extremely tired, then I started having anxiety/panic attacks, plus I was having falls due to orthostatic hypotension. I live alone, and my son came to visit and advised me he witnessed me having absence seizures (which I was totally unaware of). That video explains clearly that Levitiracetam and Brivaracetam work in a different way to carbamazepine. Please push your GP to contact a neurology department for 'Advice and Guidance' , which they can get quite quickly and easily rather than waiting for them !!

Regards, Paul
