Covid 19 vaccine UK

Hi there, I’d welcome any information you have on eligibility for Covid 19 vaccination in the U.K. I’ve looked at the .gov.uk website and in one place it includes epilepsy under neurological conditions, in another place it doesn’t. I did have an in invitation from my GP for flu, but not for Covid. I’m under 65, so don’t qualify through age.

Confused…..

Hi GillyA

Thank you for your question regarding the Covid booster.

People with epilepsy are being encouraged to get their Covid vaccine booster for winter 2023.

Epilepsy Action understands that people with epilepsy are eligible and, if they have not received an invitation, they are encouraged to speak to their GP.

Epilepsy Action advice team leader David Thornton said: “We have checked with the DHSC due to confusion around if people with epilepsy are automatically eligible for the 2023 autumn booster.

“The DHSC confirmed that people with epilepsy aged 16 and over, and children aged 5 to 15 who have neuro-disability caused by their epilepsy are eligible for the autumn booster.”

I hope this has helped with the confusion.
