Feeling Lucid

I’ve recently worked up to a prescribed amount of 300mg of Lamotrogine a day. I was wondering if anyone ever feels like they are feeling lucid almost as if you are dreaming and can see yourself in 3rd person. Not sure if this has something to do with the tablets or to do with the focal temporal lobe epilepsy I’ve been diagnosed with. Any comments would be helpful. Thank you!

Hiya, I think I've had something similar. My dose was doubled to 200mg a day after I had a seizure during pregnancy. I feel like my brain works more slowly, I can't get my words out, and sometimes become much more aware suddenly of what I'm doing or my surroundings (e.g. walking, swimming). Does that sound similar? Ironically I have a difficult time describing what I mean 😂

I think the sudden awareness of surroundings has described it perfectly. I just feel a bit floaty/lucid/daydreamy a lot of the time. Did you find that it settled down or is this something I’ll have to learn to live with?

Thank you for your reply!

Glad that made some kind of sense! It hasn't really settled, unfortunately - I can't help but think it's because I'm overmedicated since I gave birth because I didn't experience this when I was on 100mg per day. However, I really don't want to have another seizure, so trying to weigh up whether to speak to the doctor about reducing the dose back down or not.

Is there any chance of your dose being reduced so you can see if you still experience it?

I don’t think my dose will be reduced anytime soon, in actuality I think it’ll be increased. Im still having at least one petit mal seizure a day. It’s just everything that comes with it is the main problem. Thanks again for the reply! Hopefully something gets sorted with this you soon!

Hi,

Yes I have experienced this, I take 500mg Lamotrigine, took me some getting used to. I had experiences where I was in a dream like state but was in control of it, when I returned to normal state I could not recall what has happened or it would feel like I had lost time somehow. Lamotrigine has worked for me, I tried Leviteracetam for a while and they made me suffer from really violent nightmares and I would regularly have intrusive thoughts, stick with them if you can.
