Okay? A touchy question, having had epilepsy for over 50 years, after a person has a seizure, before FULLY conscious can they say 'things'?

Having had epilepsy since the age of 14, I'm now aged 66, this is an area, that I of course know nothing about, I have been told I can have conversations, whilst in a semi-conscious state, actually about fifteen years ago a woman wrote a letter, to me about my conversation over the phone, my relations who just happened to be in the house at the time, informed her I had a seizure at the time! Very fortunate as I have been living on my own for twenty years! My house is semi-detached I sometimes wonder did I shout and scream during a seizure?

Hi Adlon57

It is possible for people with focal impaired awareness seizures to experience symptoms that they will not remember.

What happens during a focal seizure depends on which area (lobe) of the brain is affected.

You can find out more about focal seizures at epilepsy.org.uk/info/seizur...

I have Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy from the age of 14, when I 'bumped' my head in the school swimming pool! Will have to ask my siblings did I make 'noises' whilst having a seizure, this will not be nice? Thanks Julie👍

A bit of misunderstanding I have always had Grande Mal seizures, usually an aura, about 20 seconds before one, seizure about 3-4 minutes, then semi-consciousness for a couple of minutes, this is the period I meant I might say something, what I do not know, but this is time I am talking about! I do not have focal impaired seizure's [when I was young I restricted myself not going to 'flashing images' events, I found out later many years later no problem, "Focus" a Dutch pop group had a concert in Dublin, was one event I could have gone too🙄] I am terminally ill now with irreparable brain damage, "next seizure will probably be your last!"

I've focal seizures and "talk" to other people while I'm having them, as well

I did not realise focal seizures were as such, I assumed by focal it was seizures set off by "flashing images"! I've had over 400 seizures, my local hospital became a regular point of visiting, a 'wise' ambulance driver said such a regular visitor in a local hospital, they were going to call a ward after me! Although this did not mean, "good service" in this particular 'hospital' many times I found myself walking along the front of this building, after a seizure, not fully conscious🙄

Hi, I'm 82 now, now seizure for over 40 year but still on meds. I started having seizures at age 15, though probably had one the previous year.

I remember one time I was in my bedroom upstairs, as a teen, and was getting dressed to go to my Saturday job when I felt really strange....and that is the last thing I remember. My parents said I came down the stairs, tied a scarf around my hair and said good-bye to them and promptly had a grand mal. I don't remember leaving my room. I always slept after...I woke up and the doctor was sitting on the edge of my bed suggesting I might have epilepsy.

If you talked...that is OK...I think it is possible. My best💞

Yeah... that happened with me a lot of times before taking my drugs... my wife recorded some videos of me while having a focal seizure, and I react like that sometimes, but mine is not caused by "flashing lights". In my case, most times I've a seizure when I wake up from bed in different hours that my regular hour os getting up. Even being medicated, that happens almost time

I have Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy triggered by anxiety, depression, pressure, etc, WHEN I wake up usually bitten tongue, right hand side, tremendous fatigue, [and associated "bump" marks] best thing go to bed for a couple of hours. I now have what is termed terminal epilepsy, a double seizure [outside a Health Centre🙄] in Jan 2018, subsequently CT scan, irreparable brain damage "next seizure will probably be your last!" so have to be EXTRA careful!
