Can they sack me

I'm sure this has been asked before, but like epilepsy eveyone's condition is different.

I have had epilepsy (absence seizures) for 40 years and they have been controlled by the usual changes in medication and lifestyle management.

I am currently 8 years seizure free.

I have been with my current employer for 2 years.

They changed the requirements of the role earlier this year.

Weekend on-call has always been a requirement. It was one week in five/six when I joined.

The change is to a two person rota with a phone call "handover" at 8am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

I have told my employer that I cannot achieve a two person rota because I need time to recover between working and the morning wake up call to "handover" would not allow that. The frequency of the on-call (fortnightly) is not something that I can achieve and still keep on top of my epilepsy.

The prospect of 12 days on and 2 days off is going to cause me problems.

I ave asked for an occupational health review which I'm sure will say that it's not healthy for me to work in a two persosn rota.

What are my options if the company decide that I'm no longer meeting the contractual requirements even when they have changed the requirements?

Can they fire me on the spot?

Getting very worried.

Nigel
