Have not written anything for some time due to not wanting to 'remind' myself of epilepsy.

I just had the same thoughts, after waking this morning with blood over my pillow and a sore mouth and fat lip and tongue. Aching as I do, I can't see me doing too much today. However, I live alone and will have to do something. I can't do a lot of talking about it, there's no one there (funny jackets and men in white coats etc.,) but, you always think about it. There's no alternative to that. P.S. at least you keep your humour. Good picture. Dave

It's getting rid of the old stereo types of epilepsy, and always keeping close relatives and good friends who are aware of your condition, trying to explain my condition to the everyday person, it's surprising the awareness that people have these days about epilepsy, more shunned and isolated forty years ago when I was at school, more ignorance, now get in touch with your local epilepsy society ask your GP get out and meet people with your own disability there are thousands out there! And as I always say like yourself a bit humour always helps in a situation like ours! Like the cartoon e-in-me! Adlon57

Hi Dave,

Years ago I had M.E. and drove me crazy the having to think about m.e. this and that everyday; now I have developed the epilepsy , but touch wood I am not having such a tough time as yourself and others. The scariest thing has been the uncrotrollable (heck I can't spell it, tee, hee.) hands-have you ever seen Dr Strangelove and Peter Sellers' character fighting his hand. I found it hilarious on the screen and quite a weird scream in real life but freaky as well. Like you've got this other entity, the brain is so amazing and wierd at the same time. Makes me wonder what will happen in the future when 'human like' robots are the norm and they short-circuit.

Also what I find curious is all the odd strategies and 'tool's I have developed to help me cope, be interesting to hear what others are doing. E.g. have an elastic band over my trouser leg to trap any misbehaving hand, thinking I should get a frilly garter? Also got sofa bound for several days so was helped by the local library to take up knitting teddies for a children's charity, and making some very strange looking Teddies.Which has also helped my brain injury and rebuild and create new pathways.

Well hope it was okay to natter. Just thinking of you and what you have to deal with.

take care everyone.

Just sent you a reply but it looks like it wasn't sent. Maybe I didn't hit the key squarely enough? Anyway , I have more to put down after reading your post again. Not being a Peter Sellers fan I've never seen that film. I thought it was a James Bond film and I'm no fan of those films. However, I'd like to know more about the elastic band 'cos I'm not into frilly garters. I don't think it'd go down with my mates around here. The teddy bears are the same. Knit? I couldn't even do chain stitch!! As far as reading goes, there's some good apps you can get and read to your hearts content. Worth looking into, I use one all the time. Anyway, take care. Dave
