Mood changed due to medication

Hello,

A few years ago I had extremely severe depression. Then one day I had a tonic/clonic seizure. Ever since being on Lamotrigine, my mood has completely changed for the better. I’m no longer depressed but happy.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi, yes the drugs do make a big difference on how you feel, I was on lamotrigine for a short period few years ago and was very happy called it my Happy Pill but unfortunately it didn’t do anything now on Keppra which is completely opposite - depressive etc.

I’m going to ask if I can take a mild dosage of lamotrigine with my keppra! 😀. You’re lucky it all works well for you 👍 x

My daughter is 15 and was on Keppra for Juvenile Absence Epilepsy and was very demotivated/ had no life in her. I did ask about whether she felt low quite a few times and she said no. With hindsight I think depression can be quite hard to articulate especially for a teen.

Within a week of starting a tiny dose of Lamotrigine she had become much more sociable. She's now on 50mg, 75mg and I would say she's more sociable than she's ever been and it's nice to see.
