Hi there,

I haven't got any real experience to share yet as I've only just had my first injection a couple of weeks ago BUT it's a good question. We always tend to hear a lot of the bad experiences

Hi there

Ive been on Zoladex (puts you into a psuedo menapause) for 6 months .After a bit of a rocky start ie loads more bleeding I had the 3rd injection and the bleeding stopped and the awful gut wrenching pain as well.I do get some side effects really bad hot flushes at night and a bit achey joints. But i think back to how i was before and its unlikey everything is going to be perfect if you have endo no matter what you do so im prepared to grin and bear this .My gaeni has said I can stay on this for another year or so providing i take the add back HRT which i intend to do.

If you are starting these implants I wish you all the very best with them they have changed my life even with niggly side effects .Everyone is very different i know but I really hope they can give you some relief,BXXX

I had decapeptyl 3 weeks ago and it's been awful for me. Side effects have been extreme and have for worse now :( I'm so depressed by it all I want to stop my treatment as I can't cope with it anymore. My body just doesn't want t accept it. Sorry if I wasn't much help xx

Hi lillil,

If you had asked me this question 6 months ago I would've said negative things as my first prostap injection in Sept last year took a few weeks to kick in. I stuck with it & had a 2nd injection in November which was like an instant positive. My symptoms had come back with a vengeance but within 48 hours of me having 2nd jab I was feeling great again.

I have since had laparoscopy & have got endo on my ovaries. I have decided to have a hysterectomy as I've been fortunate enough to have had 2 children, I don't want periods anymore as the pain & PMT are off the scale and I cannot carry on like I am with this constant pain & terrible mood swings & weepiness the whole time.

I have had my final prostap today, really just to tide me over until my op on 8th march.

I hope this helps. Its so different for each woman but my advice would be to stick with it & I'm sure things will improve, it takes time at first but in my experience it has been mostly positive.

If you have any more questions, please just ask, I understand how you must be feeling.

Naomi xx :) :)

Lol that made me chuckle :)

Thank you but how many weeks is long enough to get it feeling good? 3wks in and i feel worse than ever! My mum has been really worried about me as im so not myself at all and really struggling with it. Im so scared i get the 2nd injection and its just as bad, some say it can take upto 2-3months till ur body gets used to it, i couldnt cope with that. id rather just suffer my horrendous periods than go thro this again :( xx

I had Prostap with tibilone add back and have to say it's the best thing I ever did. I had one bad period a few weeks after my first injection - but no worse than normal! It honestly gave me the best 6 months of the last few years. I had a few hot flushes and menopause type stuff, but sooo much better than endo stuff! I had a 3 month shot and it gave me 90% improvement for 6 months.

You always get the bad stories, but that's probably because the ladies who use it and it works for probably don't use the boards as much as people having problems - if you know what I mean!x

Hi

I had Decapeptyl for 3 months the fast month saw an increase in my symptoms as my gynae had to me to expect. Had my 1st period a wk late n bleed a tiny bit on and off for a week. So all in all 1st 4/5 weeks were not good but bearable just. The next 2 injections were gr8 and I had a pain free couple of months. Injection course ended 4 dec. still awaiting my 1st period but my pains have already returned. Severe back ache, pelvic pain. I didnt need to take the livial the dr gave me had a few side affects but too be honest have to shut my mind off to it have 4 sons to look after one one of their wives and work full days 3 times a week. Then to add to it my dad has been seriously ill in hosp since mid dec so no time think too much n sit n feel sorry for myself as no one helps me. Can't wait to see the gynae thinking lap would be gr8 even if its just for a week off of life . I would have injection again if offered.

Hi there,

I started my monthly injections* in January 2012, following my Lap and had my last one at the end of November 2012 - Stage VI Endo.

*Dr switched between Zoladex and Prostrap depending on what they had in stock in the pharmacy!!

I had my period on the day of surgery, had my first injection before I was discharged, and didn't have a period or pain since that day :) amazing!

I also had add back HRT tibilone, which helped with the hot flushes; they didn't completely go but were definitely more manageable.

It can safely say it really did make a difference having the injections and HRT - like I was normal - if that could ever be the case lol!

Since my last injection in November 2012, I am still waiting for the old witch to return. After all those years of battling to get treatment, and then having it, and my periods/pain going on their sabbatical - I need the periods (not the pain!) to come back for ttc purposes - lol!

Hi there,

I have had two injections so far . My symptoms so far haven't been too bad, I get several hot flushes a day but they are over pretty quickly and aren't too unpleasant. I seem to be very emotional a couple of days after the injection, teary and a bit needy with my boyfriend but other than that I don't feel any different mood wise. I have had a bit more difficulty sleeping, tend to wake up more in the night and take longer to get back to sleep. I haven't had any bleeding since a week after my first injection.

I haven't experienced any decreased sex drive but after the second injection sex has become very painful. I don't feel like I am dry and I am definitely still turned on but it is like by boyfriend is too big for me now (or more accurately I am too small for him now!). I find that if we take it slowly and push past the pain then eventually the muscles seem to relax and I can enjoy it like usual. Has anyone else experienced this type of pain during sex and does anyone know of anything that can help?

So in all i don't think the side effects are too bad but obviously it is different for everyone. I don't really have any choice, I have to have them for 6 months as otherwise the won't be able to do anything when I have my second lap in May as my endo was too active to do anything with the first time. So I will have to put up with them regardless, but I think I might see my GP if the pain during sex continues.

Kate.

I have been on prostap for five months now and it is amazing. I love it! Ive gone from being in my bed all day to training for the Endo run in March! I don't take hrt, the injection immediately worked for me.

what i have discovered though is that its not just oestrogen that aggrevates Endo.........one month i had a very stressful month and i started feeling poorly again and i discussed it with my doc and we realised the stress was making the Endo hurt and i put in strategies to get rid of the stress and then the pain went. Also if you are eating foods that aggregate Endo then you will still get pains. Don't forget that HRT is putting oestrogen back in your body and oestrogen aggrevates the Endo.

you have to work out everything that causes your pain and elimenate it from your life to be as pain free as possible xx

Hi I would just like to say ive had brilliant results. First month one wasn't good but after second three month one I almost instantly felt benefits. Could feel a knitting feeling the next day then a few later pain almost totally went. Have odd niggle n due next one next week n getting abit of discomfort. But nothing like before.

I did put in place a plan because of side effects I joined a gym determined not to have weight gain or depression. Its the best thing I could of done I have more energy than ever even with no sleep from night sweats. Not sure if injection or gym but my immune system is also better.

So all in all id say yes n take what u read with a pinch of salt. Every one has different experience but if u try to make most of it and get on with things it can b positive.

Hope this helps
