Hi, I recently had a pelvic MRI for a complex ovarian cyst, and the results indicated that it was a hemorraghic or endometrial cyst. I was not given any further explanation or opportunity to discuss this, so arranged a doctors appointment to seek some clarity, which I had yesterday. The doctor (not the prev consultant I had seen) said that a hemorraghic and endometrial cyst were the same and there will be no further scans to check whether it resolves/grows? Is this correct, as I cannot find any information about this online? I shared that any information about endometrial cysts online come up with endometriomas aka chocolate cysts - but again he said that this is wrong and an endometrial cyst is different from an endometrioma cyst. Has anyone experienced anything similar or is anyone able to clarify please, as I am now confused & worried in case something is being missed - and worried about fertility issues if it is an endometrioma?! Thank you

endometrial cyst vs endometrioma?
hi,
I had two endometriomas removed (both >10cm diameter)in 2020 and this came as a surprise to my doctors, despite previous scans confirming I had endometrial cysts. Previous scans dating back to 2007 and the response then was that cysts are normal and clear up naturally. Regretfully mine didn’t and are likely as a consequence of my endo which had fused my fallopian tubes.
My advice is to persist for answers. Read as much research on pubmed that you can and bring this to you doctor. Pursue answers.
Thanks so much for your reply. I’m so sorry to hear what you have been through & hope you are okay.
Yes I’ve done quite a bit of googling and reading journal articles and everything that comes up seems to highlight endometrial cysts as being equivalent to Endometriomas? I think I’ll contact again, as I would just like the reassurance of a follow-up scan in the future to monitor the cyst I have. Thank you
