I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis and signs of endometriosis in 2019, been on the hysterectomy waiting list for 2 years and now I’m booked for surgery on 5th March. Now it’s getting closer I’m getting nervous and would just like to hear from anyone who’s had a hysterectomy and how the recovery was? Thanks

hi I’m 2 weeks post hysterectomy, salpingo-oopherectomy & bowel shave and I am surprised by how well I’m doing.
I had stage 4 endo/adeno, bilateral endometriomas and a frozen pelvis.
The day after my surgery (keyhole) I was up, washed and dressed by 7.30am. I’m still on painkillers but only paracetamol and diclofenac which is amazing considering before I was eating opiates like sweeties just to get through the day.
I was extremely lucky and had 2 specialist surgeons with colorectal/ urologist on standby (latter not required). These are requirements though for surgery for severe endo when bowel/bladder are involved. I do hope you’re at a BSGE centre with the same level of care.
Everyday I get stronger and the pain gets less. To date I would note I have had spasm pain in my abdomen (assuming healing pains), tiredness but no need to nap just rest up on the couch, slower mobility than normal and just general uncomfortableness. I have however had so much support that I have not done anything at home - no cooking/housework anything! So this has aided my recovery.
I know I’m a bit off full recovery but I’m hopeful for the future now and mentally I am 100% stronger.
Best of luck and do feel free to ask me anything, more than happy to give my experience if it helps.
How did it go? I've in exact same position after waiting for long time. Can't wait for it but still very nervous. I hope your surgery went well and you're feeling better xx
