25 years old POI patient

Hi everyone

I was hesitant to share this but this time I need support

I am turning 26 this month, at the end of the last year I was diagnosed with POI, and my AMH is 0.01

I broke down and honestly, I suffer from bouts of crying nowadays, I am not married not even in a relationship and this came all of a sudden I don't know what should I do

Can someone tell if she had the same experience or a relative of her?😓

Hi Emy. That sounds like a tough diagnosis to get at such a young age, and it’s completely understandable that you are struggling with it.

I don’t have any personal experience of POI, but I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma when I was your age and had to make the decision to go ahead with chemo without freezing any eggs as my cancer was so aggressive it would have killed me pretty quickly, so I think I can imagine some of the turmoil you’re in.

Make the most of any family and friends you have that you feel will supportive. There’s also a POI charity: daisynetwork.org/

I hope you are doing well, it is so sad to know that and I am sorry for your suffering

it's very tough at such you age, my doctor advised me not to freeze my eggs and go for IVF

I am still struggling, did you make a test for your AMH

I wasn’t offered any tests, just told that they had to mention the possibility of freezing my eggs but that they wouldn’t recommend it in my situation. At the time was so focused on beating the cancer, I didn’t really think too much about future impacts on not being able to have a family of my own. I didn’t realise then that the endo I had was a double whammy when it came to fertility, as no-one mentioned that when I was diagnosed.

omg, they had to mention everything, I am sorry to hear that. I hope you get what you want in your future and be in a good health.
