pain management

Hi all I had a full hysterectomy in February this year & endometriosis has already come back & is also on my bowel & bladder.

I’ve taken so many meds & I’m still lying here awake in absolute agony. Any advice/recommendations for pain relief would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried a Tens machine? Have you spoken to your GP re the pain? Mine were happy to prescribe codeine and more to try and get the pain under control x

I’m already taken pregablin, oral morph, naproxen & paracetamol. But I will look into the tens machine. Thank you

Fab, sorry lots of people don't realise GPs can do prescribe stronger stuff. Have you been to a pain clinic yet? I know what's offered is patchy across the country x

Don’t be sorry, I appreciate you replying. I have pain clinic this week so I’m hoping they will be of some help. I’ve been up all night x

I’m so sorry to hear that. This pain can be so isolating, and affects everything. Hope the appointment helps you find a route through to less pain x

There’s lots of different ones available on the market, but yes Movi is a tens machine too. I’ve used mine on my back, though all my incisions were on the front no problem. If you’re wanting to use it anywhere near the surgery site it’s probably worth checking with hospital/GP etc

Oh my gosh! That's awful! I noticed for myself pineapple juice helps with my pain, but it also induces periods too, so you may get a heavier flow or periods may come often. It doesn't work for everyone but if you want you can give it a go xAlso how did endo come back? Did it grow back? Or was it missed by the surgeon? X

I will definitely give it a try, thank you. It won’t affect periods for me as I am now in a medically induced menopause due to having a full hysterectomy, so no more periods for me.

My consultant said there was no endo there at the time of my hysterectomy but I know there was endo on my bladder when I had my previous laparoscopy before my hysterectomy so im guessing it’s grown back x
