Possible Endometriosis

Hi to anyone reading.

I’ve been seen recently by a Gynaecologist for peri-menopausal symptoms however, for at least 14 years I’ve suffered with severe abdominal pain a few times a month. It’s an awful excruciating burning pain that lasts about 30 minutes but I feel tender, bruised for a few days after.

So silly really, I’ve just put up with it all this time thinking it’s just trapped wind. However, the Gynaecologist seemed concerned and mentioned it could be endometriosis. Never even crossed my mind.

Over the next 3 months she has asked that I record every episode and go back (open referral).

Is the burning pain typical of endometriosis?

Many thanks for reading

Missy

hello missy-moo, for me burning pain is present as well as period type intense aching, not sure if it’s common for others though but I’m sure you will get a lot of replies. Sorry you are experiencing all this pain for so long. I wanted to reply to you as it is really good your consultant is investigating and wants you to go back with records of your pain. So often on this forum again and again people are being dismissed and sent away when they are in pain and doctors not even considering that they could have endo. It can take years to get a diagnosis and months for an appointment and to be taken seriously. 14 years of past pain is a lot for you to have put up with, it’s time you had some help and put your health needs first. Please try not to worry too much, different I know, but be reassured and comforted that your consultant is listening to you and it sounds like they want to get to the root of your pain and help. If it is endo then hopefully you can have some treatment to ease and manage the pain better. Please don’t go down the ‘doctor google’ root as if it is endo it is different for each individual and it will just cause you to stress more.

This forum is so good for emotional support as we understand each other so well.

I wish you all the best for speedy answers and a positive outcome.

Poppy

hi, I had burning pain and then tenderness to touch my lower stomach even after the bleeding had practically stopped. Almost like I was bruised inside. It Turned out I had endo on the surface of my bladder between uterus.

Hi Missy

It could be endometriosis. From my forties, I would get episodes of burning stomach pain a few times a year usually premenstrual and in response to acidic foods and painkillers, and usually during the night. At the beginning I would just be sore the next day but eventually it would take about three weeks to recover after each episode.

I hope you find an answer soon.
