I wondering who has had any successful experiences in getting a hysterectomy in their 20s. I have had many ultrasounds previously but after going private my ultrasound with gynaecologist showed a lot of serious issues and he said there and then I have endo (which shocked me).
I was due to have MRI after ultrasound however the gynaecologist has said just by looking at the ultrasound he’s going straight for a laparoscopy due to the severity of my symptoms and the multiple issues I have. I do not want children and never have as I’m unable to carry them due to other health conditions. I would love a hysterectomy as it would help solve a lot of other issues I have going on. My issue is I’m 27 with no children so the likelihood of being taken seriously for hysterectomy is slim to none.
I’m hoping for something but I can’t carry on the way I am and the severity of pain I’m in anymore.

Hi and apologies, I am 10 years older that than you and I also do have children, however I just thought that I would respond as it was also thought that I was young for a hysterectomy.
Obviously it depends on what you need the hysterectomy for, however if this is the best option to get rid of your pain, then hopefully your gynaecologist will support you with this. I think that the main worry with doing it so young is that you could go through menapause; when I had mine 5 weeks ago, my ovaries were kept to help avoid this. I was advised that this risked the continuation of pain during the time that I would have been due my period. I experienced this cyclical pain last week, however it was still better than it was preciously. Again, I am not sure the cause of your issues, however I was also advised that my endometriosis could grow back and fill the space where my womb was; and therefore this may be something else for you to consider. I hope that all goes well x
thanks for replying! My issues are reverted/tutored uterus which is covered (my whole womb) in 5/6cm polyps, many of them. The pain is the main reason for surgery for myself but I also bleed extremely heavy with no medication helping. Unfortunately they may have to take one ovary out due to it being twisted and dermoid cyst which they’re attached to my bowel they believe as ovary isn’t showing up on scans! My right ovary however I’d probably keep not sure it does have bad PCOS but no cysts only pain when ovulating. Thanks for advice, appreciate it!
I had a hysterectomy at 26 and was totally pain free for 10 years , then I started getting menopausal symptoms went to Gp and they started me on Oestrogen only HRT which then fed the Endometriosis as the Gynaecologist called it and so my problems began again, I still had my ovaries at this stage but was taking Zoladex and Tibolone. Hope this helps x
