Questions about diagnostic laparoscopy and post procedure

Hi everyone,

I just had a hospital appointment with an endometriosis specialist in which we agreed on undergoing diagnostic laparoscopy but I am feeling quite hesitate now.

I am 31yo and since I was 21 or so I started developing all the symptoms associating with endometriosis. Excruciating pelvic pain during period and ovulation, pains during sex, vomiting ,cold sweats and all that you are all aware of. In addition in some point I had an MRI in which they found I have bilateral hydrosalpinx which strengthens the possibility of endometriosis as I never had a STD.

The last three years I am on the combined pill which has tremendously improve my symptoms , however I don't love it. I have gain 15kg , my libido is off, I feel emotionally flat and I am SO scared of blood clots. I told the doctor I want to be off the pill but she said I will probably need to be on contraception post operation .

So I am thinking, does it worth going through this procedure? I am so afraid doing it only to hear there was nothing there.

It will really help me to hear other people's experience . How was having the operation and has it help you? Did any of you managed to get off contraception post operation?

I felt the same way as you. I weighed up the pros and cons. I'm 32 and would like to have family in next year or so and felt I needed to know what was going on for my own mental health and if I could have children. The recovery for me has been pretty good and now I have answers as to what's going on. My issue now is I've tried lots of contraceptions and always had issues so trying to decide what to do now. Potentionally looking at hormone balancing and holistic help until we are ready for family.
