I have recently seen an endo specialist who advised I have a lap and excision after seeing my left ovary is stuck to my pelvic wall, I have a blocked tube and a nodule on my rectum seen on a TV ultrasound with a specialist sonographer. However, I am really worried I will get adhesions following excision and still be in pain, have people found excision to be helpful? I am in pain around ovulation and on my period but not daily. Then there is the question of future management such as by having the mirena coil but I have heard lots of negative stories putting me off this. I feel like I can't win and I'm just not sure what to do next!

Excision - is it worth it?
I think it all depends what you want out of it. Are you wanting facility treatment? Are you in a lot of pain and want some relief? Have you had any other treatments like prostap or the progesterone pill first to see if it helps? You need to weigh up the pros on cons. If it is for fertility, there's definitely more pros, but if your only in pain when on your period and ovulating, maybe hormones are the way to go before deciding on surgery. But I would probably get another appointment with your consultant and explain how you feel about it all. My first coil was horrendous but it turned out it had moved, my second coil took 7 months to start working, but has been a real god send since it has, I personally only have to deal with day to day pain now without cycle pains.
