Suspected Endometriosis

Hello, been having recurring issues which have increased in severity these last few months. I’ve always but it down to IBS or similar.

For the last two months I’ve had bleeding 5 days before my periods and just after (nothing during the month or after sex). Periods really heavy, the first day or two I fill up a 15ml menstrual cup every few hours. Painful pelvis and back pain makes me feel I’ll bend down and not get back up. The bloating is ridiculous, and doesn’t go away. People keep asking if I’m pregnant (absolutely not). Increased urge to urinate. Aching rectum, especially during period. Feels like I’m sat on something between my vagina and bum, like inside between the two. Diarrhoea constantly. The nausea for the past two months has been awful, it’s constant. Sciatica, restless legs which I don’t know if related. Can’t lie on right side. Fatigued constantly. Went to A&E last night with the pain and bleeding, 7 hour wait and I gave up.

They’re just saying it’s normal, IBS. Is endometriosis an area I should be investigating? This is just morning bloat, will be 10x worse by afternoon

thank you

I would definitely bring it up to your GP, adenomyosis is also worth mentioning. I think a lot of women here having been down the IBS route with the drs before being diagnosed with endometriosis because of the symptoms being similar.

Thank you for your reply! I’ve been reading about that as well, sounds probable. Just all a minefield as so many things overlap

oh love! So sorry for this, that photo looks familiar. I was diagnosed with IBS too (and chronic fatigue and tension/migraine headaches) before I got my endo diagnosis. Can you ask around your friends and family for a good doctor where you are? You definitely need a good doctor because that sounds serious and I’m sorry you’re suffering like you are 😔

I am really sorry you are suffering so much. I would definitely push your GP to refer you sounds like a lot of symptoms I was suffering with. For years and years I was fobbed on with IBS (I am constantly constipated) my old GP made me think it was all in my head and was IBS. Which when I changed doctors I was referred straight away and was diagnosed with sever endo xx

Yes, dont bother going to A and E or your GP. Book yourself in for a scan MRI or TV ultrasound with a specialist. It will cost you but that way you can find out very quickly exactly what is wrong and get treatment. Otherwise you will be waiting a year to see a specialist who will refer you for a scan, another 6 months and then wait 3 months fr the results. A good private clinic will do the scan , the consultation and get you the results within a couple of weeks.

Thank you all! It’s been really helpful. I’ve known there was something wrong for years but it’s steadily getting worse. The bleeding is so heavy, however it’s short, only 3 days long? Does anyone else have similar?
