No diagnosis

I had my gynaecologist appointment a few weeks ago after coming off the pill and not being able to handle my period pains (I have since gone back on the pill). The appointment did not go well, she didn't even know why I was there to start with, then when I explained that the GP had referred me regarding potential endometriosis, she just told me what I already know (that the pill can help stop it).

She has booked me in for an ultrasound next month to rule out any other causes of my pain, but I don't believe this will show anything as I am currently on the pill and the pill stops my pain (so I'm assuming any swelling from whatever is causing it will have gone down). I also have another scan (unsure what type) next year.

Do I just cancel these appointments since they won't change anything? I hate being on the pill, it interferes greatly with my life, affecting my mood and sex drive. But I have accepted that this is what I am going to have to do to stop the pain. I have had extreme period pains since age 11 and have been on the pill since 14 to deal with it (now 24), so I doubt a scan is going to reveal anything that can be treated in any other way than the pill.

I know you can't get an official diagnosis without surgery, but I was hoping for something. My manager at my current job is very understanding, but when I come to have children, I might not work here anymore, and I will have to come off the pill then, which will leave me in unbearable pain (something the gynaecologist didn't seem bothered about at all).

Sorry, this is a bit of a rant I just feel so lost, and I really felt like she didn't care about my health at all.

Hi! The nhs are under such huge strain and backlog atm that I feel like they are just trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible tbh.I needed blood tests and scans before I got referred to the hospital so that other things were ruled out and endo could be taken seriously as a possibility. So I'd defo still keep those appointments, they seem useless as they might not show much is wrong but they're important for end diagnosis. They were actually able to see an cyst caused by endo in my ovary.

If you want children that's definitely something to bring up with the doctor because you will have to come off the pill and will need pain management if youre not treated by then. So that might give them a push to help you more (diagnosis, treatment etc).

My ultrasound showed a endometrioma and also a thickened uterine lining which got me referred to gynae so definitely worth going. This prompted laparoscopy and hysteoscopy and my subsequent stage 4 diagnosis.
