hi, I was diagnosed with endometrial in September 2020, I’ve since had chronic pain and was advised to complete my family and then have a hysterectomy, i have since had my baby and I’m about to start the injections to mimic the menopause, but I would like to have an MRI scan to check for endometriosis growth again as I’m in a lot of pain, can anyone advise me what scan it would be as I’m looking to go private as my doctors isn’t being helpful with it.
Many thanks

hi. I had an mri with contrast and buscopan. They did pelvis and gi tract. I already knew I had endometriosis from a lap in May. This was to check severity near bowels.
Have you previously had a MRI that showed endometriosis? MRI doesn't usually or always show endometriosis. Only DIE and endometriomas usually are seen with confidence. A clear MRI doesn't tell you much unfortunately.
I would potentially save your money. A hysterectomy might not even cure your pain if they are constantly missing endo somewhere difficult to see. You might benefit from a second surgery to excise further lesions.
Hi Jodie, as others have mentioned, the MRI doesnt always pick up endo. I had one prior to my hysterectomy and it showed nothing but when my consultant removed everything she found a lot more! I think it might help to make the decision on the hysterectomy first. You might pay for an mri that shows nothing. If it helps, im so pleased I had the hysterectomy. It has been a big success. The Prostap injections worked well for me also and I understand that if they work then hysterectomy is also likely to. Good luck and feel free to DM me if you have questions
