Almost a year after my first laperoscopy and to start with I felt great! I was given the mirena coil and have had no chronic pain ever since however I am feeling so low. I have struggled with depression in the past but my god this is something else. Low moods, quick to react and get angry and I am crying all the time! Anxious and panicky.

My weight gain has been insane and I eat and exercise quite well which is also affecting me and my self esteem as now I am so much bigger than before. Spotty, really oily hair and even more hairy in places I never had hair. I have had no period for 5 months.

I can’t take it anymore. Does anyone else feel like this who has had mirena? I have a date booked to remove it as I just want to go back to normal and 🤞🏼 will be planning for our first baby next year.

Hi SenoritaF

It's nice to hear from you. Great that you had a successful surgery which relieved your chronic pain! I'm really gutted for you, that being on the mirena has produced these side effects for your mental health. It sounds like you are making the best decision for your overall health in having the coil removed. I know others in the community have experienced side effects with the mirena too, you're not alone.

If you would like to speak to someone about what you're experiencing, Endometriosis UK has a helpline run by friendly volunteers who also have endo, and the opening times are here: endometriosis-uk.org/helpline

Really hope that things improve for you as soon as they can, and that you're back to feeling like yourself again soon 😊

Take care,

Claudia
