Advice ???

I have always had really bad periods and got diagnosed for endometriosis which has flared up (apparently). This flare up has caused me to be signed of sick plus waiting for my consultant and I to meet to discuss Treatment plans since 6 months keeps moving my appointments. My manager who is female stated a stigma comment around pain and periods. Basically work is now on my case about my absences. I work in a gp surgery so I thought they would have more support. I will be having a meeting and I need advice plus back up on this? Anyone have any advice please? I am part of the union but not sure that covers this? Any help will be grateful! I feel very isolated on this matter and how different I am to other people.

Hi BeUa

Sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulties in the workplace. It's hard to be met with a lack of understanding about absence due to endometriosis.

We do have a couple of documents on our website that should provide some support on this matter. First of all, we have 'Managing endometriosis at work - hints and tips', and also 'Endometriosis - A guide to rights at work'. Both of these can be downloaded at endometriosis-uk.org/resources

Hope these help - wishing you all the best x
