Mental health after diagnosis

I’ve been diagnosed for roughly 6 months and now find myself very anxious about my health and having panic attacks of it. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, did anything help?

Hi! So sorry to hear you’re having a rough time. I’ve been in exactly the same boat as you. I used to get such bad panic attacks and I know it can be really scary. The first thing I would say is: stay away from Google. I used to Google every tiny symptom I had and it’s a terrible idea. I also found that yoga, even 10 or 15 mins was a good way to distract me and give me something else to focus on. I can highly recommend Yoga With Adriene. Her videos are so good and she gets you to focus on your breathing with really helps calm you down. She even had a full video dedicated to anxiety. If you’re really struggling, speak to your GP or call Mind. I spoke to my GP and they really reassured me.

I really had to force myself to remind myself nothing bad was going to happen. As soon as I started to feel my panic rise, I had to tell myself that nothing bad was going to happen. It was tough at first, and I do sometimes still feel incredibly anxious but the doctors won’t let anything bad happen to you xx

Thank you for this reply, this has really made me feel better. When you think you’re alone in how you’re feeling, it definitely feels more overwhelming. I’ve been trialling yoga this week and hoping sticking to it will make a difference. You’ve really helped, thank you xxx

Hey orange11 so sorry you are going through this 😞. I get like this when I have flare ups and have a bad time with it.I’ve been starting to listening to happy podcasts, reading etc just to keep my mind distracted from it until things get sorted.

I totally agree with RosieLou94 try and not Google anything as it is the worst thing to do, I know we all do it naturally as we want to know answers, but it is the worst thing to do with anxiety and I made that mistake massively and wish I didn’t do it 🙈.

I am always here if you ever need a chat ❤️
