Welsh Senedd Waiting Times consultation - interview request

The Welsh Senedd Health and Social Care Committee are looking for an interviewee/witness for a consultation on waiting times “Impact of the waiting times backlog on people in Wales who are waiting for diagnosis or treatment (EN”) “Effaith yr ôl-groniad o ran amseroedd aros ar bobl yng Nghymru sy’n aros am ddiagnosis neu driniaeth (CYM)”.

The Committee is looking to interview someone living in Wales with (a) suspected endometriosis, who has been on waiting list for diagnostic laparoscopy for some time, OR (b) was recently diagnosed with endometriosis, but were on a waiting list for some time before getting a diagnostic laparoscopy.

The witness would be interviewed (in English or Welsh) and the information/stories collected will be used to illustrate the lived experience of people who have ended up on a long waiting list for treatment. The interviews can be by telephone, Zoom or face-to-face (Senedd Covid restrictions permitting). The stories can be anonymised.

The Committee are particularly interested in hearing about:

•the services in place for people who are waiting for diagnostics and treatment, particularly pain management support

•access to psychological therapies and emotional support for those who may be experiencing anxiety or distress as a result of long waiting times
