I have had endo for 10 years, and my flares have been on and off for that time. I have tried several treatments and recently I have been considering having a hysterectomy, I wondered if anyone could share their experiences with me on having the procedure and the decision making process that led you to do it. I am 34, I have one daughter and I do not want more children.
Thanks in advance

Unfortunately a hysterectomy won’t help endo. If you have adenomyosis aswell when endo has affected muscle of uterus then a hyster will help. Otherwise your best option is excision of all endo. I had a hyster as I was incorrectly advised it would help but ended up in worse pain and needing three more surgeries in order to get relief from pain.
I had a hysterectomy 4 yrs ago after having the ablation where they burn the lining of the womb out, this worked for 2 yrs but the flooding started again so due to that with fibroids and endo in pouch of Douglas and uterosacral ligaments I decided it was my only option. It obvs is much better now I am not bleeding out but the pain continued so had another excision last year. Now under investigation for bowel issues and a growth on my ovary as they were left in due to my age. It’s never ending. But the hysterectomy itself wasn’t that bad, keyhole and recovered ok. It’s a big decision and may not be a cure. Hope all works out and you get some relief soon xx
