Hi. It hard not to be a little scared going into surgery, and I don't want to just be here saying "everything will be OK" it sounds a little condescending. I had surgery about 4 years ago, it was the best decision I ever made to have it. I have/had Adenomyosis, its the same as endometriosis, except the masses burrow into the lining of other organs. I was scared to death that the surgeon would go in and make a mess. You should be having a laparoscopy, also known as key hole surgery, if you are not sure call your surgeon and get him to confirm what routine he is doing. a laparoscopy is a very simple procedure, they make 1-3 small holes that they put the instruments in to remove the endometriosis. When I woke from surgery I ahd ibuprofen and a heat pack and that was all the pain meds I needed. They have to tell you about the side effects and complications but laparoscopy is such a routine operation that the chances of anything goign wrong should be very remote. I can guaruntee you will feel nervous and scared until you ake up after surgery, I know I did but once you are through it you can look forward to living with a lot less pain. It is definitely worth it. When is your op scheduled for? let me know how it went, always here if you need support.

Thank you so much, really helpful. I haven’t got a firm date yet but within the next 3 months they’ve said.

Hello, I’m glad you’ve got your op scheduled, I have read many stories of people saying it really helped them, even if it took a bit of time to recover. If you don’t mind me asking, how long did you wait to be seen and then from that appointment to the op?

Hi :) I feel a bit like an endo fraud because I only had 2 terrible (TERRIBLE) periods and then was referred to a gyne because my bloods came back worrying (CA125 marker). 12 months later I have had no pain at all but they have been giving me ultrasounds every 3 months to monitor my cysts. They were very quick with me because of my bloods but as my cyst has grown so much they now feel it needs to come out so it will be around 3 months until my surgery, still waiting for an official date though. It's just so weird because I have no symptoms at all but have a very large weird thing inside my body.
