My wife is in severe pain for nearly 6 weeks, she has been offsick from work all these time.GPS/ Hospitals keeps changing her painkillers. I even spoke to her gynaecologist still no joy. They are still deciding on what best treatments for her. Cant believe even in 2020 we are taking this long to decide. I never felt this hopeless and helpless in my life and its hurting.

She is been taking codin cocodamol percetamal but not working.

I would like to know if anyone else been in same sort of situation with their pain and which pain killer worked.

Thanks in advance

Hisorry to hear your wife is in a lot of pain

When codeine stopped working for me I started taking tramadol but it will only be a matter of time before that stops working....your body gets used to the pain relief.

It is very frustrating the way we are treated....or not more like!!!!

Has she been diagnosed with endo?

I know my hubby gets down seeing me in pain and not being able to help but believe me just you being around and supporting her is enough.

Hi the fact that she has a caring partner will help her as it’s much harder when you are on your own. Some say cbd oil helps with the pain or a tens machine. It depends on the pain. Hot baths and soothing massage may help to relax her and help her cope with it better. Dont let the doctors fob her off . Good luck

Thanks. I was doing research about cbd oil but could not find anything much reliable, glad you mentioned it.

Idk much about it but search on this site for posts that mention it. It was suggested by the pain clinic but I have managed without for now. There are 2 types depending on the symptoms. You could ask Holland and barratt that’s where I was told to get it from. Good luck 🤗

So sorry to hear your wife is in so much pain. It's horrible for a partner to see someone they love on terrible pain and be unable to help.It is shameful that this keeps repeating with so many women and still so little is known about this disease and how to treat it.

I think it comes down to finding what works for you.

I always felt it was like preparing for battle. I would take paracetamol, ibruprofen (together) hot water bottle and I can recommend a Tens Machine.

Surgery is usually not the answer. Often all they do is laser off the cysts which return in a few months and causes scar tissue.

I found taking progesterone worked for me.

I am on a double dose two tablets a day which stopped my periods and allowed my body to calm down. Hopefully slowing down the spread .

The medical profession are flummoxed by this disease so little is known about what causes it or what to do with it and women end up in desperation taking horrible drugs or opting for a hysterectomy, which they know is not a cure for many.

I hope you can find help and answers.

I'm not sure why you say surgery is usually not the answer. This will depend on the individual, the stage of endo and the severity of symptoms. Medical treatment is often not the answer either as disease can progress meaning that ultimately surgery is more complex.

Do you know if the MRI showed endo because if it did this will usually mean it is at a stage that requires treatment at a specialist endo centre?

She has been referred to a specialist after our ivf treatment last year..

As long as it is definitely a specialist with a special interest in endo - so additional training. If deep endo has shown on the MRI she will need to be in a centre in tertiary care. There are special referral procedures.

Hi hope your wife get beter I am in same situation and it's very heard to get good doctor today that will really look after you I am suffering like this for the last 7 years and it's been really heard but they can't help me because we want family otherwise if we didn't want family the only option is take the uterus out that's all will get the pain of

My heart goes out to your wife and she s really lucky shes got support.

Just keep ringing i know they under a lot of pressure but unfortunately its still a disease with lack of funding and research its disgusting

The pain is hurrendous eventually i went right up to pain for palitive care but the most effective for me personally weren't the opiods weren't great for the bowels and upset your stomach so maybe see if anti inflammatories help and peppermint oil either capsules or tea

Heat is another good one and eating little and often

I really hope she gets treatment soon just don't let her be fobbed off. I kept a diary pain score etc

Im sure with you by herside will really help

Hi i have had endometriosis since i was 17, i am now 32. Multiple operations later and different pain medicines. I have tried codeine, Tramadol, Napoxen, memacific acid and the latest Anatripulin. The Anatripulin works by blocking pain signals. Maybe your wife could try this? Unfortunately for me my body is used to it and currently waiting for an appointment back to my gynecologist. My partner does me hot baths, tens machine, heated mat, massage, and i even have him sit on my back for the pressure when my pain is chronic. Hope your wife finds some relief soon.
