Can endometriosis get worse?

I have been experiencing new symptoms recently... an aching sharp vagina pain, pain when peeing and some butt bleeding. Is it possible for my endometriosis to get worse? Can it spread to other parts of my body? I keep feeling more and more ill each day my symptoms before the new ones were and still are constant stomach pain all day everyday and nausea.

Hi Immy, yes endometriosis can get worse (be progressive) for some people. You sound really sore!

Can you ask you GP for some short-term help with the symptoms & a referral to a gynaecologist with a specialism in endo?

The GP can help with things like hormonal treatment (e.g. the pill) and some pain relief (e.g. ibuprofen and omeprazole to protect stomach, and Buscopan for cramps).

A gynaecologist can arrange an ultra sound and followup diagnostic laparoscopy to look and see where the discomfort is coming from.

Try calling the GP straight away to start the ball rolling & to take care of this, if you'd like to. 🌿🌼🌿

Thank you for the reply back, I have a treatment plan but very slow. I got my diagnosis of endometriosis in January this year after being in pain for two years. I diagnosed myself as I asked to be tested for endometriosis. The gynaecologist said they doubted I have it but I persisted in saying I want to be tested. The mri scan showed I have endometriosis at the back of my womb and in a ligament connected to the sacrum. I have been waiting 3 and a bit months for the contraception clinic to open at my doctors so I can have the coil implant. There is a 18 month waiting list for a pain clinic. So my doctors have been prescribing pain killers that haven’t been helping my extreme pain. So trying other things myself like peppermint tea to reduce my stomach bloating. But other than that nothing else seems to help at the moment. I have tried the mini pill and currently on the depo provera injection doesn’t help my pain, doctors said it would stop my periods which it has but it should of stopped my pain. Even after having the diagnosis I still have doctors say they doubt I have it.

I second what June said. I have been having breathing issues the past few months and suspect it's now becoming diaphragmatic. I'm also experiencing shoulder and chest pain which I believe is also a sign of this, as well as what you describe as vaginal pain. It sounds like you could have it on your vulvar and bowel, its quite common for it continue to grow. I hope you get access to the right treatments.

My mum seems to think I have a yeast infection. I told her about my added symptoms and she was like that’s a yeast infection because I haven’t been drinking enough water. But if it persists I will go to the doctors thanks. I also get back pain. But I can’t tell if that’s from my scoliosis or whether the endo is making it worse
