Does anyone know the names of any good Private gynaecologists in Northern Ireland? And will I need to be referred to see them or do I contact them direct?

If paying private you just contact them directly. I seen Dr David hunter as he deals with endo but is no way a specialist dr like they have in mainland or America, it's pretty shit! My 1st appointment he said you don't get swelling/bloating with endometriosis 🤦🏻‍♀️ i paid for a LOT of appointments and suffered a breakdown before he agreed to carry out a lap. I am currently under thr care of Dr David Morgan (antrim) good luck!

It's not permitted to name surgeons on here.

Hi, you could consider Dr Menninger or Dr Moohan, you will need a referral letter from your GP to schedule an appointment for a private consultation with them. Good luck

Hey NicJM - I’m under Dr Morgan in AAH and Dr Moohan for my second opinion. I’ve just been told the delays in treating me have led to the need for bowel resection and potential permanent ileostomy. Can I ask how you find Dr Moohan on a professional level.

You can DM me, to prevent further complaints on the thread. It’s been a seriously long and excruciating journey for me and I’ve only managed to have one Lap in 20 years. It seems I have frozen pelvis now, and my poor bowel is at serious risk. From what I gather my POD is so badly obliterated that my Colorectal surgeon isn’t even beating around the bush with severity.

I’ve been advised to do an intermittent fasting diet prior to shed my chronic illness weight for hopes of a better outcome, so I want the best option for me.

Thanks

I can be honest - I’ve been under him since Nov 2019 and haven’t even met him yet! He hasn’t told me my surgical plan other than hysterectomy and he didn’t update my records with the results of my latest MRI and keeps referring to old results. I was finally booked for surgery since 2017 for 28th Feb here but he didn’t even look at my file to see he had prescribed me Tibilone with the Synarel for menopause induction… Tibilone had to be stoped 4-6 weeks prior, I had to tell the booking lady. I requested a call with Dr M over a week ago and haven’t heard a thing. He’s given me two telephone calls since I’ve been under him and both lasted less than 10 mins!

However, a friend has private health care and is under Dr M and she literally phoned up a month ago and got an app for the next day face to face with him… me nothing!

Maybe you will be lucky 🍀 and if you have private coverage you most likely will be.. but if you are NHS I’ve been waiting since 2017 for actual removal, in 2019 they went in and failed to remove anything at stage 4 and with bowel fusion.. not covid related! But I can say don’t believe them when they say you won’t be sent to back of list.. and I’d highly recommend you get some private scans like MRI or ULTRASOUND. MRI is £400 for pelvis at Kingsbridge but at least you would know - that is if you need this.

I got referred to Dr Moohan in Altnagelvin also but too late to completely switch.

I hope your experience is so much better than mine.

If you need to ask anything drop me a DM here ☺️
