i am 20 years old and i have been in pain for the past year. only once a month that lasts around 1 and half weeks. ive been on crutches for the pain and numerous times in hospital. ive had scans after scans and they told me nothing at all was wrong.

last week my doctor told me they think i have endometriosis.

when i got send the link by my GP i instantly became shocked, all the symptoms match what i am going through.

I have no idea what to expect but honestly i am in so much pain. i am also very worried for the future.

Hello and welcome

I am sure you will receive support from this site. But 1st is your GP going to refer you to a Gynaecologist to confirm his thoughts that it might be Endo?

Confirmation of Endo comes with having a Laparoscopy then treatment will follow to try and keep it at bay. Please try not to worry about the future too much as the treatments available have improved since I had Endo. If it turns out to be Endo come back to this site for support and contact Endometriosis UK as they have the expertise to help you.

Good Luck🍀🌹

I am waiting for my next appointment for them to refer me then I will go for the laparoscopy. I am just worried of the long term effect as I am so young

Yes, you are young but there are younger than you on this site that have Endo. Best that it is confirmed earlier than later, call the Endo helpline they may know of a support group specific to your age group. 🤞

Hey! Don’t worry, I’m in a similar boat. I am 17 and diagnosed with Endo and there are lots of outcomes and treatments that effect your future minimally, I was really worried about things like fertility but there are lots of options. It can be really overwhelming to initially find out about Endo but if it is the cause then it can be quite comforting knowing there’s an answer as to why you feel that way! Have you had any referrals or indication about what the next steps for you are? Xx

Hi, thank you!

I have had the referral to the gynaecologist yesterday so just a waiting game and which They upped my medication.

Also they have referred me to the GP support worker. Which she has spoken to me about things. Xx

Try not to worry too much they have been quick in terms of a diagnosis I think the average is 7 years 🙈 and hopefully have referred you to an endometriosis specialist not just a general gynaecologist. If it’s a general gynaecologist as why and get a specialist referral ASAP.

As soon as I go back in to the doctors I will speak to them about that. Thank you
