Do I have endometriosis?

Hi all, I am unsure if I have endometriosis- I have never sought any advice or help for my symptoms, which i thought were normal heavy and painful periods. Now looking back at all the years of combined, progressive and new symptoms, I'm not sure whether I should have sought help earlier. I am still sceptical whether I am just being 'weak', I'm not one to ask for help, I always power through pain. I'm not sure when to seek help?

No one can tell you if you have Endo except for your GP who will ask you several questions and if appropriate refer you to a Gyna. You may just need meds to dampen down the bleeds and pain. Most GPs are running phone consultations during these unusual times. Give your GP a call.

Keep safe

I would make a list of your symptoms and see if they correlate to your monthly cycle (this will hopefully rule out a doctors first diagnosis of something like IBS). If this is affecting your life then it’s time to seek medical help, also remember that sometimes the diagnosing process takes a while so the sooner you start hopefully the sooner you can be diagnosed.

Also you are not weak!! Even if this is ‘just’ painful periods, you shouldn’t have to deal with pain and your doctor can prescribe you stronger medication.

I would just make sure you have a list of symptoms and questions at the ready for a GP appointment.

Good luck x

Please don’t think you are weak. Speak to your GP for a referral, it will be the best way to find out and treatment.

I had bad periods for years and didn’t do anything and it’s come back to bite me now. I’d totally recommend getting this looked into rather than suffering.

Hope your wait isn’t too long

I was like you for years just muddled through thinking this was normal until I started getting daily pain (not on period) with extremely dilbilitating pain on periods, after a very long process we found it was adenomyosis and endometriosis, keep a diary of your pain and take it to the gynecologist if your GP will refer you, you can be waiting a long time best to get the ball rolling ASAP I wish I'd gone years ago my process from seeing GP to having both diagnosis was 4 years xx
