Advice on dealing with endo symptoms and uncertainty about laparoscopy

Hi everyone, I would like some advise please on your endo symptoms. Mine started last year after a bad period accompanied by a water infection. I think I may have always had endo to some degree as I have always suffered terribly with period pain, but since having my daughter in 2017 my periods went downhill they became really heavy and I would flood constantly, it got to the point that for 3 days I wouldn't go out the house because of the pain was too extreme. I've recently had scans, xrays and a horrendous gynaecology appointment which left me in pain for a few days after and was told its a high chance I have endometriosis. I feel as though the two weeks after my period is the most painful and my groin/pelvis is trying to breakout of me, also I get cramps in my tummy too does anyone else get this? I feel like I'm going crazy with it sometimes I've felt quite isolated with it as a lot of people don't really understand it, or how bad the pain can be and it has really got me down the last few months. I currently take mefanamic acid during my period which has been a god send but its just managing the pain after my period as it likes to pop up and surprise me. I was recommended to have a laparoscopy, but the doctor said for now it's fine to just manage the pain if that's what I want. I'm aware that going through the laparoscopy doesn't mean it won't come back and I'm just thinking is there any point, but some days when the pain is so bad I do re consider having it.

Any advice and positive info would be great, thank you so much xxx

Hello, this sounds like endo and I’d suggest you find a good consultant that can not only look but can fix any endo they find with excision.

The NHS waste time and resource and cause numerous issues doing diagnostic Laps, you shouldn’t be sent away to manage pain, you should find a surgeon that is a specialist and push for an urgent referral.

The GP telling you to go away is a total lack of understand as to how this will be impacting on everyone and everything in your life an you need support and treatment, the sooner that better.

If you can go private don’t hesitate, and depending where you are I can recommend surgeons, but likewise may others on here have found the right pathway to care outside of the NHS.

Hope you are not in pain today xx

Thank you so much for replying! I really have found the doctors to be a waste of time, just really unhelpful when I've needed reassurance more than ever and the gynaecologist was just a joke I took a full symptom diary and he literally flicked through it, he gave me no information at all and I was left feeling at such a loss after the appointment.

I have heard that going private seems to be the way forward so I'm glad you suggested this as I am going to look into this.

I went private found the surgeon I wanted had a great consultation and my option now is get operated in a month and pay, or he can fast track me on the NHS be approx 4 months and be with him as well.

I’m actually choosing to pay as I run a Business and for me and my staffs ale I need to be well ASAP.

But I thought I’d let you know the sooner you go the faster you can go back to NHS.

So really for the consultant fee it’s 100% worth it. If funds allow of course.
