Endo and Preterm Labor

Hi Everyone.

I went into spontaneous labour at 35w+6 and had my daughter at 36w.

I have endometriosis, for which I have had 5 abdominal surgeries and I have suspected adenomyosis. My drs think the damage to my abdomen and reproductive organs caused the early labor. My daughter was also small, on the 3rd percentile.

I am currently 25w pregnant and they are monitoring me weekly from 32 weeks.

Does anyone else have a similar experience? If you had an preterm 1st, was your 2nd labor preterm too? If your first baby was small was your second baby small also?

I know no one can predict what will happen. I would just love to hear some experiences so I have an idea of the possibilities.

Hi, I don’t have a similar birth experience but similar diagnosis and amount of surgeries.

I have endo and adenomyosis 4 laparoscopies, two classed as major surgery prior to birth of my son. Was induced at 40wks due to his size (8lbs 6), two days later he was born via emergency caesarean.

They never really focused on my gynae history. All I can advise is to take a deep breath and try and stay calm, there is a great girl in Belfast I can recommend for pregnancy acupuncture that I found helped me through my pregnancy when I was anxious due to my past medical history. Really helped me stay relaxed.

It sounds like they will be doing everything right for you. From what I’ve seen with every single friend their experiences are different not only from one another but with each birth it is totally different. You’ve no way of knowing but to trust in your medical team and take care of yourself. Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy. xx

hi there! I have endo, my surgeries to clean things up have led to 3 successful pregnancies. All 3 of my babies were pre-term, 36 weeks exactly, 34+5 and 35 exactly. The endomitriosis was never given as a cause for my early spontaneous labors, but I wonder if that's a trend others have experienced? With my last I was on progesterone injections to try and stop early labor. Wish you all the best!
