Hi, I am currently under the gynaecologist, who thinks I have endometriosis. My symptoms include painful, heavy and irregular periods, pain during and after sex and bleeding from my back passage whilst I’m on my period. We are currently talking about having the laparoscopy, however when I was in A&E a few months ago (for something unrelated) a doctor suggested I could have POCS. As well as the heavy periods, I suffer from excessive hair growth, acne and high amounts of hair loss. Is it possible to have both at the same time? Or could I not have endometriosis, and just have POCS? Has anyone had any experience with both conditions?

Endometriosis and/or POCS?
Sounds more like POCS this is usually why you get hair growth due to the oestrogen in the body. I’ve never heard of people having both usually just having one or the other. Endo can create cysts on the ovaries and so can endo so the symptoms are very similar. I would defo get a lap done. Another thing is POCS is it creates irregular periods because people with this condition don’t always ovulate regular. People with endo tend to have quite regular periods xxxx
Hi Ellie. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and endo. It is possible to have both at the same time. I have suffered with acne all my life and have excessive hair growth. I had blood tests for PCOS which came back negative, but then I had a MRI which diagnosed the endo and picked up loads of cysts on my ovaries. I’m trying to conceive at the moment and looks like I will have to go down the route of IVF. Both conditions make this more complicated so hoping I can get some positive news from it all. Good luck with your diagnosis and hope you get good news x
