Monthly Injections

Hello there,

I was wondering what others experiences of the monthly triptorelin injections were?

I am on my 2nd and have been experiencing far greater pains in my lower pelvis, back and hips than with my 1st injection or in fact prior. With the additional new symptoms of deep throbbing back, coccyx, hip and sciatic pain down both my legs. (I had excision of endometriosis from my uterosacral ligament this year (April))

Will this continue? Or improve with time? I am completely exasperated and so disheartened. As the ‘medical menopause’ hasn’t reduced my pain so far but it seems to have got far far worse. Now I am left in worse pain and have the add on of horrible hot flushes, awful joint pain & night sweats. I am being reviewed by my consultant in January, after my 3rd injection (mid way through a proposed six month menopause). Is it worthwhile continuing the whole 6 months or stopping and commencing a different treatment?

Thank you so very kindly Emma x

Hey I can’t offer any advice but I’m interested in how yours is going? I’m due to start the injections next month for 6 months too

Hi I’m on zoladex I’m not sure if it’s the same drug but it puts me in the menapause and I also have 6 but over a year. I have the first 3 monthly and I’m on my 2nd and feel the pain like you do a lot worse than the 1st one. They told me thou that the drug emphasises symptoms for the first 3 months and I will feel worse before I feel better and I have to persevere so I’m wondering if the drug your on is the same xxx

Hi! I had my first Decapeptyl injection yesterday. The nurse explained to me that my symptoms could feel worse for the first month or two as it is a strange adjustment for your body - as menopause is chemically induced, not naturally come about.

I hope you start to feel better soon. Are you taking any HRT add back? X

Hi hunny. I’m 8 months on zoladex, which I think is the same. For the first 3-4 months I honestly thought I’d made a mistake by having them, and was going to stop! I’m glad I didn’t! I had awful joint pain in every joint, my stomach pain was more severe than ever, hot flushes and migraines that put me to bed for days! Then it just stopped. I haven’t had a period since starting it so it stopped the massive flare up each month I’d get. I am on tibolone (a type of HRT) too. Has that been mentioned to you? Xx

Hi Ema4390,

I have been on the triptorelin injections my last one due at the end of Dec. Had my lap 7 days. I am sorry your having such bad symptoms. I found that my symptoms got worse once I got the injection and lasted for 2 days and also during the week before the injection was due. My whole body hurt, bones etc, I couldn’t go to the gym or Pilates anymore so I stopped. I did have really bad pelvic pain and lower back pain, migraines plus the hot flushes and night sweats. I was on methanamic acid which got me through my day. Speak to your consultant or endo nurse and see if they can prescribe something else. Hugs 🤗
