Hi,
Im wondering how long anyone waited for their NHS Hysterectomy histology results.
I was told 2 weeks & I’m currently 19 days post op with not hearing anything.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paula xx

Im 6 weeks post op and was called after 2 weeks and asked to go to an appointment 2 days later. I didn't know at that point but it was for my histology results. Basically they had found early stage/ pre cancer within my womb ( not expected, I was having the hysterectomy for endometriosis and I'm only 35) but as i'd had the hysterectomy I was classed as being treated. So I think no news is good news, I think they have the results after about 2 weeks but will only make contact if it's needed, fingers crossed for you x
Hi Shell,
Im sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I imagine that was shocking to hear. Its still worrying even though everything’s removed.
After my hysterectomy I was told my uterus looked like a sponge, having all the features of Adenomyosis apparently. I also had cysts in my fallopian tubes, also removed. I had no signs of endo though.
Surgery was carried out by BSGE specialist. I wasn’t anxious regarding the results initially however, as times gone on the anticipation is kicking in!
Hope everything is still well with you.

If your specialist is in the same hospital as where you had your tests and they do the lab work then your results should take a few days. If it's not at the same place it can take longer; tests at a centre and send to hospital lab (usually that's overnight) then back to whomever needs the report; sometimes that's up to three weeks, as the doc can take a while to eventually look at the report even though the lab can have the results in 24 hours (samples go off quickly).
Your results should go to your specialist whom ordered them and your GP, sometimes they don't contact you if it all looks okay or if a follow up to discuss isn't urgent.
I would suggest contacting your specialist / GP to book an appointment to discuss the results, sometimes we need to give them a poke!
