I just had a follow up to review how I was getting on with my new pill. This is my second gynae appointment since my laparoscopy which diagnosed endo and an earlier scan showed suspected adenomyosis (sp?). I told her my symptoms were no better and so she suggested I see the endometriosis specialist. I’m really confused as to why I, with confirmed endometriosis and a history of chronic period pain, had just been seeing a standard gynae with a book of different hormonal contraceptions and no knowledge of the disease?????? This is largely a rant but also wanted to see if this was standard procedure? Appointment with the specialist is mid September.

The normal procedure under the NHS guidelines is that you are referred to a gynecologist with an interest in endometriosis when first being referred to get a diagnosis and they do the lapscopracy. This by the sounds of it is what has happened with you which is correct according to the guidelines.

But there are endometriosis centres that deal with the higher stages/more severe cases and they can also take cases for those who have a lower stage but are not responding to the usual treatments. The Dr's here have a more indepth knowledge of the condition, and have a multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses, pain management, bowel surgeons etc. Which is why they tend to deal with the higher stafes/more complicated cases as these generally required different types of surgeons in their lapscopracys.

It's good that your Dr is admitting that your case now surpasses their knowledge (sometimes their own egos get in the way of us getting referred to these specialist centres when we need to be).

Thanks for your detailed reply, it definitely makes me feel less alone! It’s just so hard going to appointment after appointment and getting nowhere! My pill is amazing for managing my cramps, which without it lasted three weeks with me being bed ridden for maybe 4 days. I also now get a 3 day long light period vs my natural 8/9 day monster! But when I have my pill ‘period’ I’m just in so much pain, especially after I pee. I just want it to go away completely so I can live a normal life!

I’ve never heard of this pill, is this something you can get from a specialist? Looking online it seems like a herbal remedy
