Diagnosis 1yr ago. Endometriosis of the abdominal wall. Operation last September to remove tumor which was stuck to my cesarean scar and abdominal wall and nodules on right rectus flank.
I learnt from symptoms returning and confirmation by MRI that it was back 6 months after the op. Consultant suggested Zoladex as the cells are still small enough to shrink/suffocate/kill on a 3 month treatment plan. Otherwise possible reopening of incision scar to remove, which terrified me. As I have had X 3 cesarean sections plus op. I wonder how much more my stomach can take, and worry about it bonding back together well enough.
I am only 2 and abit weeks into my treatment, it's not as bad as I thought it would be, or has it not kicked in yet?. I have however had nausea and diarrhoea on occasions. In-between this I am feeling great. I am however slightly worried by previous reads that I have more symptoms to come?.
Feel for all endo sufferers.
Regards

I have been in a very similar situation to you, mass removed from abdominal wall in 2016, returned 6mths later all after c-section! I didn’t do Zoladex but I tied gnar injections but had a really bad reaction and was mismanaged by local hospital. I finally got to specialist team at guys and was told it wasn’t have gone on it’s own surgery was needed and then management of preventing it coming back. The new Endo mass has infiltrated the rectus abdominal muscle all the way through to the posterior sheath, and I had major surgery in Dec to remove the mass along with my muscle and surrounding tissue in the hope to prevent it coming back. Unfortunately I am still symptomatic with Endo and neuropathic pain from the trauma but the teams are doing their best to manage it. I have asked how many times can I have abdominal surgery and the surgeon said as often as we need to do it!
I do hope Zoladex works for you but as your journey continues if it is helpful to connect further please do reach out.
Sounds very similar to my operation. Thank you for sharing. The insomnia is sending me crazy, so my doctor has prescribed sleeping tablets to take every now and again when I need it. Fingers crossed it works as I'm like a bear with a sore head!....my poor family.
Zoladex is different for each person. It took 3/4 months for it to stop my periods and ease the pain for me. I always seemed to feel really rubbish for a few days after each injection and then feel great until around the time I would of come on. I would say I was fairly pain free at 7/8 months. However menopause wise I had some symptoms even being on HRT but manageable such as night sweats, forgetfulness and hair thinning.
2 weeks in is early I’m afraid but you’ve got a positive outlook.
Have you been put on HRT? If you haven’t you may get some of the symptoms coming on soon or you may be lucky and not get much. Sorry that’s very vague but that’s the problem with all of this there is no definite answer.
Thanks for reply, since my last post I have had sickness, unexpected with no warning signs diarrhea, and my bones ache, and now for the past 4 days I can't sleep!. Can doctors prescribe something for insomnia?.
On plus side it's not constant, comes in waves except the bone aching which has been constant this past week.
I did get given hrt drugs to counteract. But was told do not take unless you really need. I just thought that was if I get real drip sweat on?. I have flushes but not to dramatic I need to take hrt. Although I'm starting to understand it's not just for the sweating. As having lots of silly blonde moment s at work.
Thanks for letting me sound out. Ah also do you have regular check ups with nurse or doctor in-between injections?. As I am not.
Take the HRT as long as it’s a synthetic one it won’t hurt. I didn’t have any for 3 months and felt really poorly - you’ve been thrown into menopause whereas most people go into it slowly over years. I didn’t have regular checks but saw my gp every 6 months. I hope you feel better soon xx
Hey, everyone is different and has different reactions to treatments. Zoladex was a nightmare for me but for others it wasn’t.
I came off it a few months ago and as a 20 year old going through menopause it was awful. I had hot flushes all the time to point I sat in uni lectures sweating and red face. I got quite depressed towards the end which is why I stopped treatment early and lost control of my bladder.
Try not to worry about what might happen as you may not get any side effects or just a small amount. Plus if you can’t cope on it, you can always just stop. xxx
