I have been given slow releasing morphine tablets because my pain is absolutely terrible in the early hours of the night, it wakes me up in the middle of the night about 2/3 then I’m in pain till about 3/4 in the afternoon.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has taken these before and when was the best time to take them the last 2 night I have been awake since 3 in pain all I want to do is be able to sleep through the night. Thanks 😊

I also have slow release morphine tablets and have done for over a year now. I find them best if I take them about half an hour before I go to bed. As long as you take them every 12 hours all the time you should be ok.
I found they took a while to feel like they got in my system so it was probably a week or so.
So I’ve been on the slow release for 7 years now also I take morphine liquid with a concoction of other meds such as amitrptyline, pregabalin and the list goes on. You don’t mention why you are taking it and what dose you are on. My dose was increased to 60mg twice a day. I take one after breakfast and one an hour before bed. I say breakfast but it’s always after 12 when I wake as all the meds just make me sleep. I would suggest if you don’t feel like they are working, to go back to your GP. Any long term med takes 3-4 weeks to really get in your system but you should start the pain to ease after 2 weeks. Morphine also makes you constipated, so be warned. The pain might get worse if you’re struggling to go to the toilet. Ask your GP for some laculose to take as well.
Hope this helps. If you tell me why you’re in so much pain, I can advise you more
