Waiting to see a specialist

Hello everyone!

I had my lap on the 27th July and my follow-up on the 3rd December. During my follow-up, they told me that I have severe and deep Infiltrating endometriosis (Stage 4), my left ovary is completely stuck to my bowels and it has also spread to my bladder and urethra. I have pain everyday now, not just when I'm on my period... urgghh!

The doctor said that I need to wait 4-6 months to be seen by a specialist. Did anyone else have to wait this long? Is it normal? Or should I do something?

Thank you!

I think it might depend on different areas, I got at appt to c a specialist within a month. I’ve been seeing them for a year now and have been put on a waiting list for a lap which I’m hoping will be in the next couple of months . Has ur dr referred you? Could he prescribe you painkillers in the meantime? X

Hi Vicky it depends what hospital your with and how many specialist there are. I had to wait a long time for all my appointments and I was on the operation list for a year and a half even though I had stage 4.

I was told I would have to wait 8 months - I've switched hospitals and got it down to 5 months, but unfortunately I think it can take a long time (I'm in London though, so that might be part of the reason why it's taking so long!)

I'm in London as well, so I guess this is a normal waiting time here.

Hi vickyyyy

I had very similar

Had my Lap last January where they diagnosed me with stage 4 endo particularly on my bowel and us ligaments, I saw the consultant in February and was told up to 12 months wait but I was very lucky to have had my excision op back in October, had part of my bowel removed but have made good recovery and have to say currently pain is improved so I’m thinking positive and hoping for the best x good luck hope u don’t have to wait too long.
